Caulking day today. Thanks for the company!
If you don’t mind answering an occasional grammar question. . .
How do we interpret Volitional + という?
In the 親知らず story, there is this sentence:
Here’s another example pulled from a long sentence in a story by Edogawa Rampo.
[Re: cash recently withdrawn from the bank]. . . . .
In the Rampo sentence, it seems there’s just a longer cClause #2 than the “こと” place holder in the 1st example.
If you’d like to see the entire sentence, let me know.
I searched all of Clay’s History stories and inside the first 9 children’s storybooks (Hikoichi, etc.) hoping to find a bit of gloss. Did not find an instance of its usage there.
