Our Journey to Build This App
For more than twenty-five years, we’ve been creating stories, audio, books, and lessons to help people learn Japanese. Over time, that library grew into something wonderful — but also scattered. Pieces lived on the website, across different books, inside Makoto magazine, or tucked away in older digital downloads.
A year ago, we began building a system to connect **all** of that material in a clean, interactive way. That became the foundation for Makoto+ Sentence Explorer on the website. And then, six months ago, we decided to take the next step: bringing the whole experience to your phone.
The result is the Makoto Japanese Explorer app — a unified, elegant way to read stories, listen to native audio, explore vocabulary, and track your learning across both app and website.
We’re continuing to add new stories, expand the library, and connect even more books and audio through QR codes. This is just the beginning — and we’re excited to keep improving the experience with your feedback.
